I went to the mall today to look (and smell) for the best women's fragrance to wear this summer. Twenty scents later I came up with my top eight. My plan was to pick five but just can't seem to narrow them down to that. With all the choices out there, I suggest to remember the 3 F's when shopping for fragrance. The 3 F's are floral, fresh and feminine. Avoid over-powering and heavy scents. Keep in mind that a fresh scent makes you feel fresh as well. Which is crucial under the summer sun's sweltering heat. I know it's not officially summer yet and I'm already talking about fall shoes. The way I see it there's nothing wrong with being a couple of steps ahead on knowing what's the trend next season.
UGG Australia has definitely evolved beyond the shoe they are known for. Their fall collection is chic and quite stylish. There's a shoe for every woman, look and occasion. The key element of the collection is functionality and versatility. UGG Australia really thought about what women need and perhaps adapting to the slow economy worldwide. Which is evident on some of the shoes' offer pull-up and foldable cuffs. Basically you are getting two styles for the price of one. I personally love the Bellvue boot (shown above). It comes with a foldable sheep skin cuff. So, you can easily turn the calf boot to an ankle boot. It also has an interchangeable leather and sheep skin insole. Now that's smart!

But the design did had some ifluence to my verdict. This bag is priced at a whopping $439! Come on now, a couple yards of suede leather, zippers and printed lining for that price? And the zippers are only accents if I may add. Maybe if the zippers are made with 24K Gold then the price is justifiable. The design is not something we haven't seen before. Junya Watanabe is just one from a slew of innovative and talented Japanese designers. That have and still remains very influential in fashion. Known for avant-garde designs and a visionary, Watanabe applies his skills in a series of reversible men's blazers.
When I first saw the blazers I thought to myself, this is how reversible garments should be. Getting two totally different looks for the price of one. Night and day of sorts. As you guys can see, wear the wool blazer for work or a business casual engagement. Then when you're ready to hit the clubs just flip it and reverse it! Voila!
The blazers are on sale but still pretty steep for me at the moment. Then again, a $700 Junya Watanabe jacket that is practically two coats for the price of one is still a pretty good deal.

Any retailer or online store that advertise twice yearly sale promotion better have good deals. There is nothing more annoying than false advertising. With the economy's slow pace to recovery, a lot smart shoppers are made everyday. Squeezing and stretching the ole mighty dollar. Smart shopping is not just finding the best deals in town. It involves skill and the passion for looking fabulous. Smart shoppers are not necessarily bargain shoppers. They have a keener eye, a more developed fashion sense.
I put together a couple of looks shopping at kmart.com. I had so much fun doing and decided to put my fashion savvy friends to the test. I sent them photos of the head-to-toe looks I came up with and asked them to guess the total cost for each look. The responses were interesting. And as expected nobody came close. The average price they guessed was $250!
When I told them the price tag of each look was under $60 and the pieces are from KMart, they just can't believe it. Both looks are chic and trendy. I particularly love the kimono dress (shown above). The tribal inspired print and bold colors are perfect for summer. It is quite versatile, it can function as a tunic as well.

The smart and stylish fashion apparel, shoes and accessories are made possible by KMart's design team. I've always wondered what is it like to be part of the creative process in creating designs for big-box retailers like KMart.
My curiosity was answered when I was informed about the recently launched kmartdesign.com. A new initiative by the KMart design team to inform shoppers and fashion lovers alike of the great quality and value on every product we buy at KMart. The site offers a behind-the-scenes look on the evolution of each collection. From the designer's creative minds to racks in every KMart store. One thing that really impressed me the most is there are about 250 designers composing the design team. And with a team that size doesn't guarantee a smooth ride. Series of documentary-style videos are made available chronicling the design team's endeavors. Which I totally enjoyed watching. Jacklyn Smith even made a cameo on one of the videos!

I recently joined a product review panel, that specializes on hair products. I'm selective when it comes to doing such and featuring products on The Smart Stylist. So, rest assured my dear readers that all of the items I feature have been thoroughly considered and pass the toughest quality control inspection... me!
Moving on, the first product that I had the opportunity to test is Retro-Chic Shampooing Potion. This shampoo uses vitamins and anti-oxidants to protect the hair. I have color treated hair and using the right product is crucial to preserve the color keeping my hair healthy and manageable. However I dissect this Designer Remix 'Sleevedres' dress, there are not enough reasons to abstain it out of this week's fashion offender. Then comes the silhouette. It is not quite a baby doll dress. As you can see, the model looks like she is wearing her younger sister's dress. And to be quite honest, it looks like a dress made for a Dressmaking 101 class. Designer Remix is known for pushing the envelope when it comes to design. And I do commend them for that. But sometimes they might just pushed it to much that borderlines a tad ugly. First Lady Michelle Obama received the Board of Directors Tribute. Anna Sui on the other hand was honored with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, us guys have it easy this summer... so we think. We don't have to worry much about having the 'in' shoe, apparel or swimwear. It is not that there are no new trends for men. Its the fact that there are not a lot of options in comparison to women's. But comes the pressure of getting everything right from head to toe.
Guys can easily be hot to not by simply wearing the 'inappropriate' swim trunk. This summer, board shorts and square cut style trunks are the way to go. Here are some points to consider this summer and men's swimwear.
- Fit - find one the is not to tight and not to loose as well. Most trunks have drawstrings for an adjustable waistline. The most common mistake guys make is wearing really tight trunks. I know some guys might think wearing a tight suit 'accentuates' their asset but in fact it looks like trying to hard.
- Colors and Patterns - Dark colors are best. No neon colors when it comes to trunks, board shorts maybe. Plaid, stripe and summer prints are not bad for shorts and keep it simple when it comes to trunks.

One of the photos from the campaign covering the entire front facade of Selfridges, welcomed thousands of fans and press photographers. David Beckham himself made an appearance to officially unveil the ad campaign that will be featured in billboards and pages of fashion magazines worldwide. I personally like the campaign because aside from the obvious, the campaign shows a more serious, subtle sexiness of David Beckham. I particularly love the styling. Nothing like a rope, slicked hair and David Beckham!

I love that shoes were used to anchor the balloons, a fabulous way to showcase the footwear line. The blow-up dinosaur was a cute touch.
The collection is concise and universal. Lace is making an encore in a few collections. Phillip Lim's has very chic lace dresses in his collection. The belted lace jumpsuit is my fave from Stella McCartney's ensemble. Stripe and geometric shapes are key patterns in the collection. And the obi belt made an appearance on a few dresses and coats.

Are they supposed to accentuate and make it seem like you have hips? Or are they to hide something? I don't know. The lace-up front is not working for me as either. I do like the belt. This dress is made with cotton and silk. And surely that doesn't justify the $2,249 price tag. After viewing the latest Women's Resort 2010 Collections, Prada is by far one of my favorites. I'm not a big fan of bows, but Miuccia made me rethink my non-preference. Colorblocked button-up shirts, skirts, scarf bikini briefs with ties on the hips and shoes are key items in the collection. The modern and minimalist designs reminded me of Prada's signature look. The color palette is fun and well-thought of. Bravo Prada!

False eyelashes were popularized in the 60's. Through the years they remained as staples in beauty pageants and in fashion. Lately, faux eyelashes are seen worn by everyday women. I think this is fabulous. I'm not ashamed to admit that I myself have worn false eyelashes in the past. Let me tell you, it can be tricky applying them on. But the end result is well-worth it. Just keep in mind these tips if you are about to start wearing false eyelashes or a seasoned one:
- Volume and length - for everyday use, light and medium length eyelashes are best. There are a variety of false eyelashes, corner, individual and full which means the different looks you can achieve. Thick and lengthy eyelashes are heavy. Trust me I know. Besides, you don't want your beautiful eyes covered.
- Color - stick with your eyelashes' natural color as much as possible. Remember that false eyelashes are primarily used to enhance your eyes. You don't want people looking at you wondering how and what's up with the bi-color eyelashes.
- Style and design - save the orange and purple false eyelashes for Halloween. I know some eyelashes are so fierce and tempting. Those are o.k. to wear for evening, out clubbing with friends, etc. As I always say, moderation is key.
