My eyes got so big with excitement when I came across this Comme des Garcons jacket. I first saw the unzipped photo and then came the zipped-up photo. Then head tilt to the side and uttered 'WTF' (what the fashion)! I'm a fan of Comme des Garcon don't get me wrong but why ruin a good thing? I love the structure of the garment, the color and fit but those damn slits just ruined it for me.

Comme Des Garcons Half Jacket $2,850.00 ssense.com
I've been a fan of Comme Des Garcons since I high school. The fashion-forward, edgy and unique designs gravitated me to the iconic Japanese fashion label. But sometimes their pieces can be to 'out-there'. Take for example this Half Jacket. This deconstructed jacket with a cropped sleeveless tank is undeniably a piece of wearable art. Unfortunately, when it comes to functionality and practicality it doesn't score well. Specially when you take into consideration the hefty price tag.
I've always been a fan of Comme des Garcons. They've created innovative and fashion forward garments through the years. But sometimes harnessing all that creative juices can be a good thing or else... disaster! And that is just what this men's jacket with applique is. The design is so wrong it's criminal. It looks like a home economics project. And the price??? absolutely ridiculous. I rest my case.

When browsing the collections for RTW Spring 2009 , I noticed that headdresses are getting taller, bigger and interesting. Feathers, one foot tall bowler hats, tulle origami, cornucopia of flowers and shrubberies graced the catwalks adding more pizzazz to the garments. I contemplated on charging criminal fashion negligence the designers responsible for the over the top head gears but decided not to. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed seeing their artistic expression. Besides there were worst fashion road kill that flanked the runways. So, is bigger and over the top designs are headdress' new frontier? I guess we just have to see.
